Cake Wins a Rainforest Revolution

We’re delighted to share that Cake has been awarded one of the digital marketing industry’s top awards for our global social media campaign around The Prince’s Rainforests Project.

The Revolution Awards – which recognize innovation in the digital world – celebrated the success of Cake’s work for HRH Prince Charles’ campaign to fight against deforestation. Cake was engaged by Clarence House to launch His Royal Highness’ campaign simultaneously in the UK and the US in advance of Copenhagen 2009.

A first-rate social media campaign was implemented which included – amongst other activity – the world’s first-ever web simulcast on MySpace and YouTube by HRH. In the five days after campaign launch, the combined US and UK social and traditional media outreach resulted in 642,781 YouTube views and over 2 million views on UK national news sites. A coordinated Twitter explosion ensued, with an estimated reach of 20 million tweets, driving over 15,000 people per week to the campaign website.

Not only did the campaign reach its original aim of getting deforestation on the agenda at Copenhagen, but HRH himself ended up becoming the summit’s keynote speaker and delivering a speech on the issue.

Working on the campaign was an amazing experience for all of us and we’re so proud to be recognized. Thanks to everyone involved!
